Numero Uno! What can we say? We didn’t really know what we were doing here, as is evident from the size 6 fonts (yes, really) and amateur layouts. We pretty much had to learn everything from scratch. All these technical glitches aside, many still consider Numero Uno to be the best. That’s what rapists say when they deflower a virgin. Here we’ve interviewed some of our friends who we deemed interesting beyond words, on important issues such as celebrities, bestiality and extreme hoarding. There are also fashion tips from Lady Di herself. Yep, from beyond the grave! Artists Matthew Hopkins, Tonee Messiah and Leigh Rigozzi also feature, as does Luiz Guzmán in “Guzmán See, Guzmán Do”. There aren’t many copies left of this issue (only about a thousand in our parents garage), as most went up in smoke in the great fire of ’06. You can still purchase one of the thousand from us direct though.

Public opinion says:

DUKE will make your belly laugh on the bus whilst furnishing you with oodles of ideas and unlikely fashion tips. If you wanna be the cool kid who finds out about things first you gotta snap up this hard-to-find magazine.

This Aussie zine picks up where Cheap Date left off prior to its going off the boil. It’s a veritable smorgasbord of low culture (in the best sense of the word) obsessions. You can tell that its creators had an absolute ball putting it together, though to judge by the crowded columns of text and tiny typeface, maybe they should try to check their enthusiasm and not cram quite so much onto DUKE’s pages.

After reading DUKE I was exhausted and needed a little rest.
